- 1 tsp baking powder
- 8 oz flour
- 4 oz butter
- 4 oz sugar
- 1 egg
Caramel
- 1/2 tin condensed milk
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 2 oz butter
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornflour

Base
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add the egg.
- Add dry sifted ingredients.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 15-20 mins.
Caramel
- Put all caramel ingredients in a pot.
- Cook over low heat until thick.
- Spread over base.
- Ice with chocolate icing.

Great recipe and the caramel is delicious!
I made it without the chocolate icing,
And double quantity caramel.
cooked the base at 180 deg/c.
Also when making the caramel I cooked over medium heat stiring constantly as it doesn’t thicken up until the sauce is just about boiling.
Keep stiring until the sauce is ‘gluggy’ thick.
