  1. Boil a whole chicken, and when cool enough strip off meat place in oven serving dish.
  2. Chop and fry onions and bacon in a little butter.
  3. Place onions, bacon and asparagus on top of chicken.
  4. Place butter in pan that onions and bacon were cooked, melt.
  5. Add flour and fry for 1 minute.
  6. Add remaining sauce ingredients and stir till thickens, and pour over chicken.
  7. Top with breadcrumbs if desired.
  8. Place in oven 180 c for about 30 mins or until heated through.
