Gooseberry Sauce

This is a very very old recipe given to me by my mother in law when I was first married 53 years ago I have passed it on to so many people, gooseberries being one of our oldest berries I just love making it and it is just delicious.

  • 6 lb green Goosberries
  • 51/2 lb sugar
  • 1 lb onions
  • 3 ozs ground cloves
  • 2 ozs salt
  • 1/2 gallon vinegar


  1. Boil all ingredients slowly 1 3/4 to 2 hours
  2. Strain and bottle
