Moroccan Magic Sup (Not Soup Cos That's Boring!!)

I made it up! Had a can of Watties Moroccan tomatoes and it went from there. Was so impressed have made it a couple of times since and always tastes spicy and fresh. Great with garlic bread of course.

  • 1 can Watties Moroccan tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup red lentils
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 kumara, cubed
  • 1-2 slices bacon, diced
  • 1T Moroccan spices
  • 2L chicken stock (powder is fine)
  • 1t thyme
  • 1T olive oil
  • 1 knob of butter
  • 2 medium potatoes, cubed
  • Black pepper to season
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • Splash of lemon juice + zest


  1. Add diced onions, garlic and bacon to heated oil and butter to soften for 5min. Add thyme and black pepper and stir. Add cubed potatoes and kumara and stir in. Add can of Moroccan tomatoes, lentils, Moroccan spices, chicken stock and lemon zest. Simmer away for 20min then puree with blender stick and add lemon juice. Serve with toast spread with garlic butter (50g softened butter, clove of chopped garlic, 1t parsley).
