Betty's Easy Kiwi Squares


hi - my mum used to make this all the time when we were kids along with anzac biscuits & butter biscuits & the tins were always full & I have just adapted it with other yummies over the years - its simple - cheap & delish

Ingredients

  • 6 oz butter
  • 1 dst spoon golden syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp B.P
  • 1/2 cup sultanas
  • these days i also add glace cherries /almonds &sultanas
  • or white chocolate/milk chocolate peices/walnuts
  • Icing - 1 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 1 tblespn of cocoa
  • 1 tsp brandy essence
  • hot water to mix

    Directions

    1. melt butter with golden syrup
    2. sift flour & baking powder
    3. stir in sugar, sultanas/cherries/walnuts/white chocolate
    4. pour in butter & golden syrup
    5. mix well
    6. press into tin
    7. bake at 180
    8. ice with chocolate icing
    9. sprinkle with coconut (optional)
    10. when cold cut into approximately 20 slices
