Gran's Great Sultana Loaf
This is a really great loaf with no egg and very little butter and is really economical. Keeps well.

- 500gm sultanas
- 325 gm brown sugar
- 2cups water
- 1 desertspoon butter
- 1 desertspoon syrup
- 500gm flour
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- Boil sultanas, brown sugar in the water for 6 to 7 minutes.
- Add butter, syrup.
- Cool for 45 minutes.
- Add flour, mixed spice and baking soda.
- Mix well.
- Put into 2 loaf tins.
- Bake at 170 degrees C for 1 hour.
