This super simple and fast chocolate cake in a cup is perfect for dessert in rush! Once you’ve done it a few times, it should take around five minutes from pulling the ingredients out of the pantry, to tucking into a rich and decadent chocolate cake, from a cup.

Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons chocolate chips optional
- A small splash of vanilla extract
- 1 large coffee mug microwave safe, can hold 500ml of liquid

Instructions
- Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
- Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
- Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
- Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes.
- The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
- Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
- EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

This is huge for a ‘mug’ recipe. I have a 350ml mug. The dry ingredients alone filled 3/4 of the cup. So I transferred it to a Pyrex 500ml jug. When mixed it measured 350ml, when cooked it measured 450ml. You need to downsize the recipe or say it needs to be cooked on a jug.
