The Most Scrumptious Scones Ever!


This is the best scone recipe I have ever come across. You can vary the flavours but cheese scones are a big hit in this house closely followed by date ones.

Ingredients

  • 500g plain flour
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 75g butter (diced)
  • 300ml milk
  • 1 1/2 cups of grated cheese or
  • 1 1/2 cups of dates and pinch of cinnamon

Directions

  1. preheat oven to 220c
  2. sift flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together,
  3. add diced butter and rub into flour mix until it resembles a coarse breadcrumb consistency
  4. add milk and stir with knife until it comes together
  5. add cheese or dates
  6. lighly knead in bowl, dont overwork the mixture
  7. cut into 8 rounds and place close together on greased oven tray and bake for about 15 mins until golden and risen
